Cancer Patient Participates in Life-Saving Clinical Trial
In 2004, Bill Whitaker, then a 51-year-old married father of three and grandfather of nine, was diagnosed with stage IV cancer of the tongue. Whitaker knew he had very few options – and one of them was a clinical trial open at The University of Kansas Cancer Center.
Medical research finds ways to help people live longer, improve their quality of life and manage or cure disease. This is possible because of the people who volunteer to participate in clinical trials.
