Cancer Biology Department receives first NCI grant

An $800,000 grant to study the effects of crocetenic acid, a novel compound derived from saffron, as a potential treatment for pancreatic cancer has been awarded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to researchers in the University of Kansas Medical Center’s Department of Cancer Biology.
