We have embarked on a goal to attain the most elite designation available to a cancer center: NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center designation. Achieving Comprehensive designation will enable us to offer the highest level of research, prevention, treatment and survivorship available. Of more than 5,000 cancer centers in the U.S., just 69 are NCI-designated; of those, only 46 have achieved Comprehensive status.
We need to expand clinical trials to every corner of our state and region. We aim to accelerate our research capacity to develop highly personalized treatments for every patient. And we must stop cancer before it starts through robust education and prevention programs.
Philanthropic investments will help ensure research funding is available at a level where we can successfully apply for comprehensive designation.
