Your patients are our patients

While receiving cancer treatments, your patients are our patients, too. The University of Kansas Cancer Center’s disease-dedicated cancer specialists work closely with you and your patients to develop a comprehensive treatment plan tailored to meet their individual needs, because we understand that no 2 people experience cancer the same.

Nurse navigators guide your patients

From initial diagnosis until your patient’s treatment plan is established, our nurse navigators guide your patient through initial testing and appointments, answering questions and providing emotional support. As issues arise, nurse navigators connect patients with community resources. Our nurse navigators remain an additional resource for patients throughout their cancer journey.

Access to clinical trials close to home

Nearly all cancer treatments used today were studied and made available to patients through clinical trials. We strive to provide the most advanced care possible, and clinical trials provide access to potential advancements in care and lead to innovations in cancer prevention.

In addition to standard care and treatments, we offer clinical trials designed to identify safer and more effective approaches to prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Cancer care in the Northland and northwest Missouri

Raghu Adiga: This is one of the promises that we made to bring world-class services right here on campus for the people here in Northland and especially cancer care.

Julia Oh: Cancer treatment is difficult. We want to make sure that it's as convenient as possible for these patients because a lot of times they may be immunosuppressed, they don't want to have a long commute.

Having it close to home is part of the healing journey. And particularly for radiation therapy, since the treatment is frequently daily, we want to be close to home.

Jack Beal: We are one comprehensive cancer center. You're going to get world-class care and it's going to be coordinated and you're going to have access to clinical trials and you're going to get the same great nursing teams and pharmacy teams that you would get at any of our other locations. It's just going to be closer to where you live.

Julia OH: Any patient that will be treated at Liberty can be reassured they're getting the exact same treatment that they would receive if they were treated in a main center.

But if there's ever a need for them to have more eyes on their face, we bring it to a multidisciplinary meeting and they can have that reassurance that they're having even more levels of input and advice from many, many specialists across the whole spectrum of care.
