The University of Kansas Cancer Center teamed up with Children’s Mercy Hospital to co-host a Twitter chat about human papillomavirus (HPV), HPV-associated cancers and cancer prevention through vaccination on June 21, 2016.

    There are approximately 12,000 new cases of HPV-associated cervical cancer diagnosed in the United States each year. The human papillomavirus causes more than 90 percent of all cervical cancers.

    Each year, more than 60,000 men and women in the United States are diagnosed with head and neck cancers and about 70 percent are caused by human papillomavirus.
