Training, Education and Development

The University of Kansas Cancer Center’s cancer research, training and education coordination efforts are organized by the Training, Education and Development (TED) team, which serves as the hub for cancer-focused education, training and career development activities, offering essential opportunities to a broad spectrum of learners including high school and undergraduate students, predoctoral and postdoctoral trainees, medical and nursing students, clinical residents and fellows, faculty and staff.  Our goal is to build and sustain an interdisciplinary cancer education and training infrastructure that prepares a highly skilled cancer research and care workforce equipped to advance scientific discovery, excel across the many oncology-focused career pathways and partner with communities to reduce the burden of cancer in the KUCC catchment area and beyond.

The current oncology workforce is struggling to keep up with demands for care. To address this shortage at The University of Kansas Cancer Center, we are educating the next generation about the breadth of careers at cancer centers. Our aim is to build a comprehensive oncology workforce that is representative of the population we serve, thus educating the next generation of the oncology workforce and improving the health of our community at large.
