Jamie Myers, PhD, RN, AOCNS, FAAN

Dr. Jamie Myers is an advanced practice oncology nurse with 40 years of experience. She is a Research Associate Professor within the KUMC School of Nursing, conducting research in the area of cognitive changes related to cancer and cancer therapy. Dr. Myers has served in national leadership roles for the Oncology Nursing Society for over 30 years, most recently as Co-Chair for the Oncology Nursing Foundation Research Grant Review team. Dr. Myers is very active in the SWOG Clinical Trials Research Network within the Symptom Control and Quality of Life committee and serves as Chair of the Nursing Research Subcommittee.

Dr. Jamie Myers' primary area of research interest relates to the prevention and management of symptoms related to cancer and cancer treatment. Specifically she has focused her research efforts on investigating cancer-related cognitive changes. Her research has spanned qualitative research to describe the lived experience of cancer survivors who report changes in cognitive function, descriptive research to identify predictors of cognitive changes, novel methods of assessment of cognitive effort, and interventions to improve cognitive function. Dr. Myers' interventional work includes investigation of psychoeducation-based cognitive rehabilitation, aerobic and resistance band exercise in conjunction with nutritional counseling, and the use of mindfulness-based exercise.
