Jill Peltzer, PhD, RN, CTN-A, FAAN is an Associate Professor and the Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in the School of Nursing. Dr. Peltzer's clinical background includes advanced practice (clinical nurse specialist) in pain management & internal medicine, and neurology - epilepsy and dementias, and hematology/oncology. She also spent a year in South Africa as a Peace Corps Volunteer working in HIV and substance abuse prevention.
Dr. Peltzer is a health equity researcher focusing on structural racism, stress pathways, and health outcomes among Black and African American families. She is a qualitative methodologist and uses participatory research methods that are grounded in shared power, shared decision-making, and trust. Dr. Peltzer is currently working with a breast cancer survivors and researchers to address breast cancer inequities experienced by Black and African American women.
