Prateek Sharma Named President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

Prateek Sharma, MD, FASGE, professor of medicine and program director for GI training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, has been elected President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy for 2024-2025. Dr. Sharma is also a member of The University of Kansas Cancer Center’s Cancer Prevention and Control research program. His term begins in May.

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy upholds the highest standards for gastrointestinal endoscopic practice and fosters research to encourage continuous innovation. With nearly 16,000 members worldwide, it empowers members with the latest information, state-of-the art education and unparalleled resources to advance professional and patient care goals. 

“As president of the ASGE, I am deeply honored to serve and represent the GI and endoscopy community,” Dr. Sharma said. “Together, we will advance innovation and excellence in gastroenterology, to improve patient care, promote cutting-edge research and shape the future of our field."
