CicloMed Announces FDA Clearance of IND Application for Ciclopirox Prodrug in the Treatment of Bladder Cancer
CicloMed LLC announced that its development candidate for non-muscle-invasive and muscle-invasive bladder cancer, Ciclopirox Prodrug, was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to begin human clinical trials. With this clearance, CicloMed plans to initiate the first-in-human safety trial in patients with advanced solid tumor cancers as soon as possible at several centers, including The University of Kansas Cancer Center.
Researcher received grant from Susan G. Komen
Susan G. Komen announced that it will be awarding Danny Welch, Ph.D., $300,000 to advance research on metastatic breast cancer. Welch is studying the role of genes that suppress the ability of breast cancer cells to spread to other parts of the body (metastasis).

The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a top-rated cancer research charity founded by ESPN and Jim Valvano, announced a collaboration with the Kansas City Chiefs and The University of Kansas Health System to support critical cancer research at The University of Kansas Cancer Center. This marks the first time the V Foundation has joined forces with an NFL team to advance its goal of achieving victory over cancer.
The University of Kansas Cancer Center granted three-year designation from National Accreditation Program for Breast Cancers (NAPBC)
The University of Kansas Cancer Center announced today that it was granted a three-year/full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. The KU Cancer Center is the only center regionally to have NCI-designation, NAPBC, and CoC (Commission on Cancer) designation.
Anant receives 2017 Chancellors Club Research Award

The University of Kansas Cancer Center receives renewal of National Cancer Institute Designation and Announces Consortium Partnership
The University of Kansas Cancer Center announced that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) renewed its national cancer center designation for five years and that Children's Mercy has been formally approved as a cancer center consortium partner. The KU Cancer Center remains one of only 70 nationally designated centers by the National Cancer Institute, a part of the National Institutes of Health
