It would be remiss to talk about the success of The University of Kansas Cancer Center, the region’s only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, and not mention Terry Tsue, MD, vice president and physician in chief at the cancer center.

Dr. Tsue retired at the end of 2022. He has been instrumental to the cancer center’s success.

Dr. Tsue, who is the Douglas A. Girod, MD, Endowed Professor of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology, has been pivotal to the accomplishments of the cancer center. This includes the recruitment of multiple surgical, radiation and medical oncologists, the expansion of multiple multidisciplinary tumor boards, the development of The Women’s Cancer Center, the establishment of the region’s largest disease-specific nurse navigation program and bringing the region’s first proton therapy center to Kansas City.

While his contributions are too lengthy to list, we thank Dr. Tsue for his unwavering dedication and commitment to making our cancer center one of the nation’s best. Congratulations on your retirement. You will be missed.
